First Aid Training Courses for the Workplace

Appropriate first aid training should be given to company employees. In an ideal world all employees would be trained in emergency first aid, however it would not be reasonable to expect employers to train all of their employees in emergency first aid. Anyone who needs first aid training

Every organization is different and therefore the first aid requirements of the company are usually different to the next. Employers should assess their workplace to determine the number of employees that need training, the courses they need to attend and where employees need to be trained.

The number of employees and risk assessment

If a company employing less than fifty people and the working environment is a low risk that the office environment without the use of power tools or forklift trucks, etc., they are encouraged to nominate at least one Appointed Person for emergency first aid and to train them appropriately on one day the duration of the Emergency First Aid for Appointed person course which is the minimum standard for the workplace.

Employers need to take in consideration that if only one person is nominated and trained, they should consider the fact that employees sometimes take annual leave and sometimes absent due to illness and training days.

Employers must have a person appointed in their place at any time and therefore it is wise to train a second or even third individual to ensure they are covered at all times.
