The ADDIE Instructional Designing Approach

The ADDIE model of instructional design is what goes into forming a road map for training programs or courses to be developed. It is a systematic learning model that consists of five important steps that must be followed to develop the course. Five integral steps are:

DESIGN

This is again a very important stage in the project cycle. During this phase, the training specialist chalks out specific instructional strategies for courses which will outline the structure of the program and other integral components such as strategies for learning, delivery, assessment, and the like.

DEVELOPMENT

In this phase, the prototype for the entire program was developed and subsequently approved by the client before the entire course is developed. A prototype gives an idea as regards to how and what the end will look like.

APPLICATION

It is important to ensure that the course is delivered effectively with learners. During the implementation phase of the ADDIE models, procedures developed to train students. Learning materials and courses are delivered to the target audience.

EVALUATION

ADDIE model evaluation stage can be either formative or summative. Formative evaluation refers to an evaluation conducted in all phases of ADDIE models.
